Stiftung Pierre Boulez
Purpose
The foundation serves to promote contemporary music worldwide. Its particular aim is to enable the composition of new works and their premieres at the Lucerne Festival Academy, among others. As part of the purpose of the foundation, the foundation particularly promotes (a) contemporary music in a general and comprehensive manner, (b) the composition of works by contemporary composers, (c) the premieres of works of contemporary music, (d) the dissemination of works by contemporary composers, (e) Representing contemporary music at public events such as concerts and festivals. The foundation is also responsible for making the significance and effects of its work public to an interested general public. The foundation is active in the context of its purpose at home and abroad. Although it is not for profit and does not seek a profit, the foundation can acquire assets in order to fulfill its charitable purpose and participate in projects, such as in particular real estate and investing in companies at home and abroad.

Der französische Komponist und Dirigent Pierre Boulez hat, wie die «Basler Zeitung» berichtet, in Basel eine auf seinen Namen lautende Stiftung zur Förderung der zeitgenössischen Musik gegründet. Das Stiftungskapital in der Höhe von rund 600 000 Franken stammt aus dem japanischen Kyoto-Preis, einer der weltweit höchstdotierten Auszeichnungen, die Boulez 2009 erhalten hat.
