Laurenz-Stiftung
Purpose
The foundation is non-profit and aims to promote contemporary art primarily by preserving, conserving and making accessible works by contemporary artists (primarily paintings, drawings, installations, sculptures, video creations and photographs). The foundation fulfills its purpose in particular through the establishment, maintenance and operation of a "Schaulager" in Münchenstein, ie a specially furnished building equipped with the necessary air conditioning and security systems that allows the storage, preservation and indexing of works of contemporary art; by guaranteeing access to the works of contemporary art designated by the foundation for particularly interested persons, namely artists, art historians, art experts, pupils in upper classes and students, scientists, lecturers from all interested faculties, organized groups and individuals who have a special interest and make the need credible and meet the conditions or requirements set by the foundation; through cooperation with cultural institutions that are dedicated to the maintenance and mediation of contemporary art, primarily with the Emanuel Hofmann Foundation, Basel, the Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Basel, and the Public Art Collection Basel. The foundation can also carry out the following activities: preparation, organization and implementation of exhibitions and other presentations of contemporary works of art; Acquisition, storage, maintenance and, if necessary, sale of works of contemporary art; Contributions to culturally relevant projects, in particular in the field of fine arts, photography and video creation; Contributions to the promotion of contemporary art in the field of universities and museums, e.g. research, exhibition, project and public contributions; Contributions to further training or contributions for other services to lecturers, prospective lecturers (habilitation students) and graduates of postgraduate studies.
