Purpose
The Kunsthalle Basel is a place where contemporary art is exhibited, discussed and reflected upon, and has been since it was founded in 1872. As one of the first and most active institutions in the region to show contemporary international and Swiss art, the Kunsthalle Basel is especially for known for her profound commitment to up-and-coming artists. This with the intention of presenting stimulating artistic practices and bold exhibitions to an interested public of all ages. With up to ten exhibitions per year, often with new productions and accompanied by artist talks, performances and film screenings, the Kunsthalle Basel is the meeting place for viewing and debating contemporary art.
